LINES OF CODE

The project of the Bejárható Magyarország Program was one of the most challenging work CodeCluster has ever been entrusted with. The aim of the project was to create a website introducing the several touristic opportunities Hungary offers, presenting the touristic and natural sights, all related programs and events on ground, water and air. The site also involves a digital leisure planner, as well as a blog, and a photo and video gallery.

THE STARTING POINT: A MALFUNCTIONING CMS BASE

Our starting point was a rudimentary, malfunctioning CMS platform created by another company that our client wanted us to renovate, recondition and thus make a properly functioning website according to their initial idea. In this case, our mission was not simply to develop a project according to our best professional knowledge and practices, but to find a way to successfully repair a system which was proved to be somehow insufficient and flawed.

RESETTING THE PLATFORM: MAKING THE MOST OUT OF WORDPRESS

Since one of the main priorities of our client was to develop a website that can be expanded and easily further improved anytime in the future, we were required to migrate the project into WordPress. Therefore, we came up with the idea of setting up a complex, multi-layered WordPress based platform, which can display at least as many elements as a regular website, but is easier to manage and upgrade. In this way, our project became a unique WordPress template that functions as a news site featuring many categories, subcategories and several dimensions of labels.
Furthermore, since WordPress operates with limited flexibility and changeability regarding the structure of its design, our team had to find a solution to push a complex content through the simplicity of the WordPress system and thus transfer the front-end from the original platform into WordPress. Nevertheless, after putting significant effort and time in surveying the most applicable solution, as well as holding several meetings with the client and the system administrator, we successfully made the initial front-end and design compatible with WordPress.

DEALING WITH MULTIDIRECTIONAL OBSTACLES

As we were working hard to meet the deadlines as well as to improve the system in accordance with our client’s objective, our team inevitably had to encounter several minor, as well as some major difficulties from various sides. Nevertheless, since we were always open to arrange consultations with the client, we managed to develop a better understanding on the current state of the project, and successfully worked ourselves through the obstacles.

IMPROVING OURSELVES: LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCING

Despite all the challenges and difficulties our team had to encounter, we always remained committed to meet the deadlines and to provide high quality services. Keeping these in mind, we were encouraged to quickly adapt to new situations, reorient our focus and efficiently rearrange our energy. In this way, while we were seeking solutions and applied our best practices, we also gained new experiences, developed innovative approaches and improved our management system. Therefore, in the end, we not only managed to meet the deadline and create a properly functioning website, but also presented an improved, easy-to-use platform that our client truly appreciated. The fact that we ever since work together with the client on different tasks shows the real success of the Bejárható Magyarország Program project.
